At Level 5, the expectation is autonomy, influence and strategic connection. How you’ll learn
At Level 5, this isn’t a taught curriculum. It’s a professional development process. Sessions are designed for practitioners who already have experience, the focus is on deepening capability, stretching thinking and developing the strategic perspective and AI-enhanced analytical power that senior improvement leadership demands.

Monthly workshops: live, interactive sessions. Advanced tools, strategic frameworks and AI-enhanced analysis. Complex real-world case studies, not simplified scenarios.

1:1 executive coaching: a professional dialogue, not a tutorial. Your coach works at the level you operate at. Focused on strategic improvement work, leadership development and the complex challenges you’re navigating.

Strategic improvement projects: significant, cross-functional improvement programmes in your organisation. Evidence of strategic impact, analytical depth and senior leadership capability.

AI-enhanced strategic practice: AI-driven systems analysis, LLM hypothesis generation, cost-benefit simulation and executive reporting tools. Applied to your strategic improvement challenges.

A senior improvement professional and experienced coach. This is a sustained professional partnership, not a check-in schedule. Your coach will challenge your thinking, stretch your strategic perspective and build your leadership development alongside your analytical capability.

  • Formal three-way progress reviews every 12 weeks
  • Written feedback on all work returned within 10 working days
  • AI tool guidance for complex systems analysis and executive communication
  • Smart Assessor portfolio support against the KSBs
  • Mock EPA and strategic presentation coaching

Strategic project documentation, analysis outputs, executive reports, assignments and OTJ logs, all in Smart Assessor. At Level 5, your portfolio reflects the depth, complexity and strategic impact of your work. Your manager or sponsor contributes senior-level observations and confirms strategic project outcomes.

The EPA is run by an independent EPAO. It tests your capability as a strategic improvement specialist, your judgement, your influence, the quality of your analysis and the strategic impact of the improvement work you’ve led.

It typically includes a strategic improvement project report and presentation, and a professional discussion. Your project must demonstrate a significant, complex, cross-functional programme with measurable strategic impact. At least one full mock with your coach before the assessment date.

This is a Level 5 programme for experienced practitioners. You should be in a role with genuine responsibility for leading significant improvement activity, influencing senior stakeholders and managing complex change. Prior exposure to improvement principles is expected, whether through formal qualifications or substantial on-the-job experience.
