What this programme is for

You don’t need to be a software engineer. You need to understand the problem, know the process and be able to work with technology teams to design and deliver the solution.

This programme is for professionals working in business analysis, process improvement, change, operations or technology roles where automation is starting to reshape how work gets done. You’re already close to the problems. This gives you the tools to solve them.

You’ll learn to identify automation opportunities, evaluate the right tools, design human-centred solutions, build low-code automations and support their adoption, from first idea to live deployment.

Programme specification

Dolor duis ex veniam elit esse dolor dolor non voluptate anim commodo commodo non esse tempor. Consectetur aliquip eu laborum enim fugiat pariatur adipisicing labore enim.

From your first workshop, you’ll be working on real automation opportunities in your organisation. Not case studies about someone else’s business. Yours.

Monthly workshops: live, interactive sessions. AI tools, automation platforms and real scenarios built in from day one.

1:1 coaching: your coach supports you through live automation opportunities in your organisation, not just the curriculum.

Workplace automation projects: you identify, design, build and evaluate real automations. That’s your portfolio evidence.

AI and automation tool practice: Power Automate, Copilot, no-code platforms. Applied to your own processes and context.

Formal three-way progress reviews every 12 weeks

  • Written feedback on all work returned within 10 working days
  • Guidance on AI and automation tools applied to your organisation
  • Smart Assessor portfolio support against the KSBs
  • Mock EPA and targeted preparation before your assessment

Automation project write-ups, assignments, OTJ logs, design documentation and workplace evidence, all in Smart Assessor. Your coach gives feedback in the platform. Your manager can contribute observations and witness statements.

Skills England requires a minimum of 420 hours of off-the-job training for this apprenticeship.

Level 2 English and maths required before EPA. Identified at induction. Planned from the start.

The EPA is run by an independent EPAO. It typically includes a work-based project report and presentation, and a professional discussion underpinned by your portfolio. Your project draws directly on an automation solution you built during the programme. Your coach prepares you with at least one full mock.

No formal academic requirements. You need a role where automation is relevant to your work and your manager’s support. You’ll both sign a Commitment Statement.
