What motivated you to enrol in La Fosse Academy ?

I had some previous experience working as a software developer but I had a gap in my career and I was looking for training which would prepare me to get back into the industry. Looking at the structure of the programme La fosse was offering- covering a wide range of topics in a short span of 12 weeks encouraged me to enrol into the course and it was the best decision I ever made 🙂  The course includes all new content used in industry with practical industrial problems and solutions which helped me bridge the knowledge gap.

What were your major concerns, if any, before starting the course?

I was concerned about how I would manage attending classes, self-studying and look after my family. I was concerned about traveling to attend classes in person and how I would keep up with the pace of training & new content taught.

What challenges did you face during the training and how did you overcome them?

Sometimes the pace of training and getting up to speed with new content taught was hard to assimilate. I overcame this by planning ahead and with the support of  my family and the La fosse team.

What support did La Fosse Academy provide to you during the training and now on your placement?

The whole team was extremely supportive during the whole course. They always took time whenever I was stuck with any topic. The team helped me bridge the knowledge gap and learn the latest tools used in industry. They prepared me well for the actual work environment like doing stand-ups, retros, and using agile tools to plan. This helped me a lot when I started working at my placement.

At my placement, they are also very supportive. The team is always there when you need them and are very prompt in replying to questions and queries. The work environment is open and we’re encouraged to speak freely and propose solutions.

How did you manage your time to balance your family and work commitments during the training?

My training involved both online and in person attendance. Online classes helped me a lot and enabled me to balance my commitments as I could save travel time. I could do this because of the full support from my family and through good planning.

How did you prevent yourself from falling behind your peers?

By always asking for help when stuck, planning ahead and scheduling the work. I also did self study so I could understand the problem at hand better.

What’s your advice for aspiring mothers as they plan their careers in tech or who are returning to employed work?

Go for it ! The course is very interesting and the team is very helpful and supportive. Work is online or hybrid, which is perfect for work life balance and it would help learn new technology and set you into a career you always dreamed of.
